I call myself a conservation architect — conservation because I look after historic buildings and places; architect because I am qualified to practise that profession.
I publish this site to share my passion for conservation, pass on knowledge, and (I hope) connect with new clients and projects.

I do precise, high quality work. I care for all sorts of buildings and places. My services include planning, advice, design, assessment, and interpretation.
My autobio sketches the background. My cv has the details. Read how to say my name, and get other clues about me from my ironic column. My weblog is called marking time.
Look at some of my projects— current projects, prize-winning projects and writing projects.
