Pro-macassar

Monday 29 March 2010

I have just re-discovered this portrait in my little box of cabinet photos. How could you look this stylish fellow in the face and remain anti-macassar?

Detail from a cabinet card portrait from the studio of A S Witcomb, Calle Florida 364, Buenos Aires. From wikipedia I learn that Alejandro Witcomb was born in London in 1835, established a photographic studio in Calle Florida in Buenos Aires in 1880, and died in 1905. The studio was then operated by his son (who died in 1945) and by various business partners until 1970.
