From the care instructions:

After pulling Workman’s Utilikilt from washing machine, snap out major crinkles…. While guiding your hands down the pleats, focus on elongating and flattening the fabric in a downward motion.

Stop it; you're scaring me. Next it'll be a neatly trimmed merkin with matching sporran. At least there appears to be no velcroTM involvement...

Just about to head to a dance party, wearing a Utilikilt borrowed from a friend. I'll let you know...

Things I learnt on the weekend...

Skirts are for girls. Peeing whilst standing appears to be an acquired skill.

Wearing a kilt to a dance party makes getting groped a sure thing. This could be good or bad, depending on your own personal standards. If you ask me, if you go to a dance party wearing a kilt, well, you've been warned... ;-)

Flat horizontal surfaces are much colder than you expect. You are reminded of this every time you sit down, especially if you wear the kilt 'au naturel' (i.e. without underwear).

Oh, and it IS possible to ride a motorbike in a kilt.

and incase you were wondering, it is possible to pick up chicks whilst wearing a kilt. infact it becomes considderably simpler. just remember, you are a man, and you are not wearing a skirt. its a kilt.

I work in construction. We just hired a fellow who wears a utility kilt. he swears by this thing. he says it is comfortable and gives him more freedom to move. Have been meaning to ask him about it but, am nervous in asking him. What can you tell me about this utility kilt? The reason i am asking is I am thinking of getting one.

Kilts on guys are amazingly sexy. I love seeing those manly calves under the pleats of a utilikilt. It is the ultimate in masculine attire. I like the sturdy look of the utilikilt over the traditional, kind of stuffy-looking Scottish tartan kilt. I'm going to buy one for my husband.

Saw a guy in one in Hermosa Beach last week -- he looked good in it, and he was enjoying the beach breezes.

Was just shopping around. Utilikilt needs to build "Wal-Mart" version of it's product for working men like me that have a wife and five kids a mini van and a SUV payment. I can't afford to be that stylish. That's like four tanks of gas or one month's Private Elementary School tuition for one of my kids. As you can see I am tapped out. I think I will make my own. Sewing is no less masculine than wearing a kilt... I'll say!

As the owner of 11 Utilikilts (if I am not wearing a kilt, I am in bed) I can attest to their quality and comfort. It is true, once you wear a kilt, you’ll never want to wear pants again.

Slipperydreamer -- save your pennies or buy something with better gas mileage than a SUV. If you read the UK site, you might understand why a "Wal-Mart" version is the antithesis of what UK is all about -- and how affordable a UK kilt is, considering the workmanship and its long life; they just don't wear out like a pair of trousers.

I have 2 utilikilts. They are not all that expensive. The "orginal" model can be had for about $125. It is supremely comfortable. It has larger pockets than any pants you have ever had. It does not need ironing. Forget approaching women, they will approach you. You can wear them with underwear (especially if it's cold) or commando style. The really don't get dirty because unless you are sitting they really are just touching your waist (and your shirt is tucked in.)

I warn you though. There is a very serious problem with getting a kilt. You'll never want to wear pants again!

I am with the guys who are finding them a little to pricey. I am a pretty diehard Carhartt wearer for a number of years and I think that those are pretty pricey but affordable. I am not understanding why the workmans kilt is $205. That is slightly more than my first car. I will pinch my pennies and eventually spluge on one, but my friend with 11, I mean for really I dont even have 11 pairs of pants now.

I thought the UK were expensive too, till I looked around on the web and found them to be 1/3rd the cost. I own two of the jean material and was nervous as heck the first time wearing it (I live in conservative Texas). It took all of ten minutes before being approached by a woman asking where she can get one for her husband. After that I was fine as I walked around a local Octoberfest, I was approached three more times. These things are great!
I am learning how to wear one though. I fight the urge to cross my legs (man-style of course), and sitting down still takes practice. I can't wait to get some of the different styles offered. I've already got the OK to wear them to work.
